Now

Jordan DeVries is the Director of User Experience at Brave UX, with a special emphasis on complex systems.

Depending on the day, Jordan is a strategist, designer, coder, animator, lecturer, writer, and/or therapist. He also periodically gives talks about best practices in UX.

Before

Jordan has created invitations for a White House summit, programmed an 8-bit beat-em-up, and produced interactive concert media for Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Katy Perry.

Jordan’s work has been featured in Fast Company Design, and NET Magazine.

Part 03

Game

You can destroy Jordan on Xbox Live

Fun Fact: Jordan was in the Top 0% of Watch Dogs players worldwide

Also, Jordan is a compulsive board game maker

If this is what you're envisioning, you're not wrong

carbon shift: nitro

An un-ironic love for the Fast and Furious franchise led me to this. An elite, underground racing crew works together to pull off the heist of a lifetime - but undercover cops are working against them. Are your friends terrible at board games, or great at sabotage?

Stock against photography

It's just like that 'crazy' party game, except with terrible stock photography that people probably worked pretty hard on.

Untitled Space war

Hundreds of unique ships, in dozens of fleets. The most portable way to create life-long grudges between close friends.

Trapped in a korean Drama

Based on the true story, players take turns improvising terrible soap opera scenes, with only a loose role and a deep, dark secret as their motivation. Complete with those yellow Netflix subtitles.

Brush/Pass

Inspired by the height of espionage in the Cold War, this is a simple game of studying your fellow players and bluffing your way out of danger.

House of Cats

A comically unbalanced game where shut-ins lure strays into their homes, only returning them to their owners to fund their crazy cat hoards.

Audio

Jordan is only 6 years late to the mashup craze.

Fun Fact: Jordan made a track proving Justin Timberlake's "Mirror" was just a lazy remake of "Cry Me a River." It went viral and earned him a cease-and-desist from Sony

Part 05

Bio

Ultimately, Jordan is passionate about how people react - how words, imagery and sound make people feel.

Jordan DeVries is half-Dutch, half-Taiwanese, and lives with his wife in humid Washington, DC. He aggressively follows pop culture, science and politics above a certain threshold (for some reason, he could never get into Veep.)

Carnegie Mellon is his alma mater. He's nearly obsessed with what makes a good joke, and why people laugh. He's been to 25 different countries, and mostly desperate to go back. He also knows an uncomfortable amount of card tricks.

The nickname "the Astral J" originated in high school, where Jordan was competing in NASA's International Space Station Design Competition.
